Community Cancer Educators Training Program
January 2022
The Community Cancer Educators Training program was inaugurated by JMFOA-Canada and its stakeholders at Nursing Training School, Jaffna.
This Training program is funded by JMFOA- Canada (JMFOA Foundation) and implemented by CANE ( Cancer Aid North & East), Nursing Training School Jaffna, Provincial Director of Health Service, Teaching Hospital Jaffna and Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna.
25 First year students from the Nurses training school of Jaffna were selected on their interest and willingness to help the communities and trained to be cancer educators. This certificate program comprises theatre workshops, Cancer, psychology, community medicine lectures, six months of fieldwork, and a project report.

JMFOA Canada (Jaffna Medical Faculty Overseas Alumni - Canada) proudly hosted the University of Jaffna's 50th Anniversary Networking Summit at the University of Toronto Scarborough campus. The event aimed to connect the younger generation with the University of Jaffna, creating a bridge for innovation, research collaboration, and knowledge exchange between the diaspora and our motherland.
This summit marked significant progress in Jaffna’s healthcare initiatives and laid the foundation for future development. Together, we’re building a brighter future for our community!

Workshops for dental surgeons in the Northern Province

These workshops have equipped dental surgeons to actively participate in district-wide cancer awareness and screening programs. They will serve as local champions in their respective areas, ensuring effective outreach to target groups for oral cancer awareness.
"வார்ப்பு" (Varppu)"

29th July 2023 We've launched a pilot project at the University of Jaffna called "வார்ப்பு" (Varppu) - a student-centred life skills development programme that aims to safeguard our future generation – Funded By JMFOA-Canada.
In this initiative, we're providing training to 30 university lecturers who will become trainers themselves. We'll equip university students with essential life skills through engaging and activity-based learning components.
