Eligibility to Serve as a Mentor

 To ensure a high standard of mentorship, individuals must meet the following eligibility criteria:

1. Membership or Affiliation: Be a registered JMFOA Canada member OR Be a licensed health professional willing to volunteer with JMFOA Canada.

2. Professional Body Registration: Mentors must hold an active registration with a recognized professional body relevant to their field (e.g., College of Physicians, Nursing Association, Social Work Regulatory Body, etc.). Proof of registration may be requested as part of the onboarding process.

3. Experience: Mentors should have professional experience in healthcare, public advocacy, or a related field. Experience mentoring or supervising others is an asset.

Terms and Conditions for Volunteers at JMFOA Canada

 Welcome to JMFOA Canada!
By volunteering with JMFOA Canada (including the JMFOA Foundation), you agree to the terms and conditions outlined below. These terms ensure ethical, professional, and legal compliance for all volunteer activities while fostering a collaborative and respectful working environment. Volunteers are integral to JMFOA Canada’s mission to promote community upliftment, social support, and public advocacy both in Canada and abroad.

1. Volunteer Purpose and Scope :
Volunteers are essential contributors to JMFOA Canada's mission of community engagement, education, and providing support to address social and health-related needs. Volunteer activities may include, but are not limited to, advocacy campaigns, event organization, educational content creation, research, translation services, administrative support, and other future projects consistent with JMFOA Canada’s objectives. All volunteer work must align with JMFOA Canada’s mission and vision, which focus on empowering communities, fostering inclusivity, and advancing social and educational initiatives both in Canada and abroad.

2. Eligibility and Commitment :
Volunteers must be Canadian high school, undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate students unless otherwise specified for specific roles or projects. Volunteers agree to fulfill assigned tasks with diligence, integrity, and professionalism. Meeting agreed-upon deadlines is crucial for the successful execution of JMFOA Canada’s programs. Volunteers are encouraged to engage in ongoing and future activities that align with JMFOA’s objectives to ensure the continuity of its mission.

3. Communication and Official Email Use:
  All official communication must be conducted through JMFOA-provided or designated email accounts. These email accounts must be used exclusively for JMFOA-related purposes to maintain professionalism and secure communication.

4. Social Media Access and Guidelines :
Volunteers granted access to JMFOA Canada’s social media platforms must adhere to the following guidelines: Only post content pre-approved by JMFOA’s leadership or communications team. Posts must reflect JMFOA’s mission of community engagement and advocacy and avoid personal opinions, offensive language, or unverified information. Volunteers may not use JMFOA’s platforms for controversial, political, or inflammatory statements. Social media access is a privilege, and violations of these guidelines may result in immediate termination of access and dismissal from volunteer responsibilities.

5. Use of JMFOA Logo and Branding :
The JMFOA Canada logo, name, and affiliated branding may not be used without prior explicit written approval. Approved materials must adhere to JMFOA’s branding guidelines. Alteration or misuse of logos and branding assets is strictly prohibited.

6. Confidentiality and Data Protection:
  Volunteers must maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive data, including: Personal details of clients, volunteers, or collaborators Internal organizational documents Any suspected breach or misuse of data must be reported immediately to JMFOA leadership.

7. Compliance with Federal and Provincial Regulations:
  Volunteers must comply with Canadian federal and provincial regulations, including those concerning public communication and ethical standards in advocacy initiatives. Volunteers must act in a manner that upholds JMFOA’s reputation and mission both in Canada and abroad.

8. Conflict of Interest and Contradictory Statements:
  Volunteers must avoid public statements or actions that contradict JMFOA’s mission, principles, or objectives. Any potential conflict of interest must be disclosed immediately to JMFOA leadership for review.

9. Liability and Indemnification :
JMFOA Canada is not liable for personal injury or property damage incurred during volunteer service unless otherwise specified in applicable insurance provisions. Volunteers agree to indemnify JMFOA Canada against any legal claims arising from activities performed in breach of these terms and conditions.

10. Termination of Volunteer Agreement :

JMFOA Canada reserves the right to terminate a volunteer’s involvement at any time for violations of these terms or actions deemed harmful to JMFOA’s mission and vision. Volunteers may terminate their volunteer agreement by providing written notice to JMFOA’s volunteer coordinator.

11. Future Participation and Continued Involvement:
  Volunteers are encouraged to explore additional roles, projects, and opportunities for future involvement that align with JMFOA Canada’s evolving mission and vision. JMFOA Canada supports volunteers’ personal and professional growth and encourages participation in new initiatives, training sessions, and leadership opportunities within the organization.

12. Acceptance of Terms :
By signing this agreement or submitting an online application, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with these terms and conditions. Your continued involvement affirms your commitment to JMFOA’s mission of community upliftment and engagement both in Canada and abroad.

Volunteer Mentor/Guide Role Description

 1. Purpose of the Role:
 
The Volunteer Mentor/Guide will support JMFOA Canada’s mission by providing guidance, mentorship, and leadership to participants, fostering their personal and professional growth, and ensuring alignment with the organization’s values and goals. This role emphasizes expertise from registered professionals to ensure mentorship quality and impact.

2. Duties and Responsibilities Core Duties:
Provide one-on-one or group mentorship to participants, offering advice, encouragement, and support. Help mentees establish and achieve personal and professional development goals. Share industry knowledge, resources, and best practices relevant to JMFOA programs. Act as a role model by upholding JMFOA’s values and ethical standards. Facilitate networking opportunities by connecting mentees with relevant contacts within the JMFOA ecosystem. Program-Specific Responsibilities: Lead workshops, seminars, or group discussions on pre-defined topics aligned with the program’s objectives. Assist in creating structured development plans tailored to mentees’ needs. Monitor progress and provide feedback on mentees’ growth and performance. Collaborate with other mentors or guides to ensure a consistent mentorship approach across the program. Administrative Responsibilities: Maintain accurate records of mentorship sessions and report progress to the JMFOA coordination team. Participate in regular check-ins, training, and evaluation meetings organized by JMFOA Canada. Provide feedback to JMFOA leadership on program effectiveness and suggest areas for improvement.

3. Eligibility Criteria Professional Registration Requirement:
Mandatory Registration: Professionals volunteering with JMFOA Canada must be registered and in good standing with a recognized professional body relevant to their field of expertise. This ensures alignment with industry standards and the provision of credible, high-quality mentorship. Fields of registration can include, but are not limited to, health, education, social services, legal, or financial expertise. Essential Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a relevant field. Expertise: Deep knowledge in areas aligned with JMFOA’s mission (e.g., health, education, advocacy, business development, financial literacy). Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire others. Personal Attributes: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion. Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trust with mentees. Preferred Qualifications: Previous mentoring or volunteer experience. Familiarity with JMFOA Canada’s mission and programs. Active involvement in the local community or relevant networks.

4. Reporting Structure :
Direct Reporting: Volunteer mentors/guides will report to the JMFOA Canada Volunteer Coordinator.
Collaboration: Work closely with other mentors, program staff, and leadership to align on goals and outcomes. Evaluation and Feedback: Regular performance evaluations will be conducted by the Volunteer Coordinator, based on mentee feedback, engagement levels, and impact reports.

5. Governance and Alignment Policy Adherence:
 Ensure compliance with JMFOA Canada’s policies, including confidentiality, conflict of interest, and ethical standards. Act in alignment with Canadian nonprofit volunteer governance standards. Training and Orientation: Attend mandatory training sessions and periodic workshops hosted by JMFOA Canada. Stay updated with any changes in program goals, tools, or mentorship frameworks. Governance Integration: Participate in quarterly governance review meetings (as needed) to provide insights on mentorship outcomes. Collaborate with the Governance and Policy Committee to align mentorship activities with JMFOA’s strategic goals.

6. Time Commitment :
Minimum of 5 hours per month (subject to program demands and mentor availability). Flexible scheduling to accommodate both mentor and mentee needs. Commitment to a minimum term of 6 months, with the option to renew.

By focusing on health as a core area and integrating guidance across other sectors, JMFOA ensures its programs address the community’s immediate and long-term needs. Focus Areas: Primary: Health advocacy, education, and policy improvement. Secondary: Support in education, social services, financial literacy, and advocacy for underserved populations.

9. Application and Verification Process :
Application Submission: Submit an application with details about professional registration, field of expertise, and prior mentoring experience. Include proof of active membership with a recognized professional body (e.g., membership certificate or statement of good standing). Verification: JMFOA Canada will validate professional credentials and confirm eligibility. Onboarding: Accepted professionals will undergo an orientation program to align their activities with JMFOA’s goals.

10. Continuous Improvement :
JMFOA Canada is committed to enhancing its mentorship program through: Feedback: Collecting regular feedback from mentors, mentees, and stakeholders. Program Reviews: Evaluating the effectiveness of mentorship strategies and making improvements. Partnerships: Expanding collaborations with professionals in emerging fields aligned with JMFOA’s mission.
